¶ “Raging Wildfires In France Follow Western Europe’s Warmest June On Record” • As firefighters are battling wildfires that have ignited across France and other parts of western Europe, climate scientists released a report showing the region experienced its warmest June on record. There were record temperatures set for June in several countries. [ABC News]

¶ “Africa Secures Additional $900 Million In New Clean Cooking Commitments” • African countries secured $900 million more in financial commitments for clean cooking, replacing polluting fuels with cleaner alternatives, according to the International Energy Agency. The funding was announced during a virtual meeting on clean cooking in Africa. [ABC News]

¶ “Drax Power Station’s Carbon Emissions Hit A New High In 2025 While Receiving Record Public Subsidies” • Ember analysis finds that Drax biomass power station was by far the UK’s largest emitter for the eleventh year running. Drax emitted more than the top six gas power stations combined. But it got a record £999 million in subsidies in 2025. [CleanTechnica]

¶ “Ocean Winds Hits Full Power At French Floater” • Ocean Winds reached full power at its 30-MW Éoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion floating offshore wind farm in France. The project is its second floating offshore wind project globally and, after the 500-MW Yeu-Noirmoutier bottom-fixed wind farm, its second project in France. [reNews]

¶ “Solar Surge Lifts India’s RE Additions To 29 GW In First Half” • India added nearly 29 GW of renewable generating capacity during the first half of the year, including about 26 GW of solar and 2.9 GW of wind, according to JMK Research. Solar energy installations increased 43% year over year, while wind capacity additions declined 16%. [Asian Power]

¶ “Marco Polo Secures Siemens Gamesa CSOV Deal” • Marco Polo’s offshore wind division PKR Offshore signed a framework agreement with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy for the deployment and charter of two commissioning service operation vessels. Marco Polo said the agreement is set to run from 2029 for an initial two-year period. [reNews]

¶ “Leyte Geothermal Power Plant Eyed To Ease Rising Electricity Costs” • Amid a major increase in electricity bills due to higher generating costs, the Regional Development Council approved a resolution urging that electric cooperatives in Eastern Visayas be allowed to purchase power directly from the Leyte Geothermal Power Plant. ¶ “Collett Completes Dual Blade Lifter Operation” • Collett has completed the first dual blade lifter convoy operation in the UK, transporting wind turbine blades for the Sanquhar 2 Wind Farm using two blade lifter trailers operating simultaneously. ¶ “Tehran Accuses Trump Of Strike Near Nuclear Plant” • Iran accused the US of a strike near a nuclear power plant after the US military said it had struck dozens of sites across Iran in a second blistering night of attacks. Iran’s deputy governor of Bushehr province told state media a US projectile struck near the area of Iran’s Bushehr power plant. [MSN]

¶ “Nuclear Reactor Shut Down Over 28°C Heat Fears As France Boils” • A nuclear power plant was forced to shut down one of its reactors as Europe remains in the midst of a scorching heatwave. Production at reactor two of the Golfech nuclear power plant was halted due to high temperatures recorded in the Garonne basin, French utility ​EDF announced. [Daily Express]

¶ “El Niño Is Strengthening: Here’s What It Means For The US” • El Niño conditions are still intensifying and are likely to be a strong influence in the coming months, significantly affecting our weather, the hurricane season and global temperatures, the latest forecast from NOAA says. Warmer temperatures are likely to prevail in the Northeast. [ABC News]

¶ “US Accounted for Nearly 50% Of World’s CO₂ Emissions Growth In 2025” • A report from the Energy Institute, the 75th edition of the Statistical Review of World Energy, is thoroughly damning for the US. ¶ “ComEd Commissions Two New Substations, Unlocking Up To 550 MW Of Wind Energy To The Grid” • Illinois utility ComEd announced that it had successfully energized two new 345 kV transmission substations to its grid, enabling the interconnection of up to 550 MW of wind generating capacity in LaSalle and Woodford counties. ¶ “EPA Moves To Eliminate Public From Permitting Process For Data Centers ” • Trump’s EPA has proposed cutting the public out of air pollution permits for what it calls “minor sources.” These sources include the large diesel generators used by many Texas data centers.
