¶ “Wildfires Rage In Southern France Prompting Evacuation Of 3,000 People” • Nearly 3,000 people were evacuated in southern France and helicopters deployed to drop water on wildfires after a record-breaking heatwave last month, officials said. Firefighters said half of the people evacuated were from three campsites in the affected area. [Euronews]

¶ “Denmark, Portugal, And Lithuania Lead The Way As The EU Share Of Electricity From Renewables Hits 46%” • The EU’s share of electricity generated from renewables continues to grow, new Eurostat data reveals. In the first quarter of 2026, it reached 45.5% of the total electricity generated. This is up from 42.7% in the same period in 2025. [Euronews]

¶ “Canada Advances Alberta Pipeline To Pacific Coast To Expand Oil Exports Beyond The US” • Canada took a step to open a new route for its vast oil reserves to Asian markets as Prime Minister Mark Carney advanced the Pacific Coast pipeline from Alberta through southern British Columbia to the sea, seeking to reduce Canada’s dependence on the US. ¶ “BYD Commercial Vehicle Sales Up 24.7% in June” • Overall, BYD’s commercial vehicle sales (all electric) were up 24.7% year over year in June, but were down 4.4% month over month. The company had a total of 6,180 commercial vehicle sales in June 2026, which was up 4,957 from June 2025 but down slightly from the 6,463 of May 2026. [CleanTechnica]

¶ “BYD Exports Reach New Heights, Up 94.7%” • BYD’s passenger vehicle sales outside of China rose 80% year over year in May, but they did even better in June, rising a whopping 95% year over year. The company reached a record 175,349 sales abroad in June. That was almost 15,000 more than the previous sales record that it had just set in May. [CleanTechnica]

¶ “Bernhard Schulte Gets New CSOV” • Bernhard Schulte Offshore has taken delivery of the ‘Windea Clarke’, the fourth vessel in a series of commissioning service operation vessels. The vessel was christened on 30 June at Ulstein Verft in Norway and will enter its first seasonal charter on an offshore wind project in the UK North Sea, the company said. [reNews]

¶ “Nova Scotia Green Light For 1.2-GW Onshore Giant” • Nova Scotia has granted environmental assessment approval for the 1.2-GW Ocean Lake wind project. The project will include up to 158 turbines and is being developed by EverWind NS Holdings Ltd and Membertou Development Corp. It will generate enough electricity for about 404,000 homes. [reNews]

¶ “Renewables Generated 45.5% Of EU Electricity In Q1 2026” • Renewable energy sources accounted for 45.5% of electricity generated in the EU during the first quarter of 2026, according to data published by Eurostat, the official statistical office of the European Union. ¶ “New “Air” Battery Makes Larger Electric Aircraft Possible” • The idea behind lithium-air batteries is to use oxygen from the air as a key ingredient, thereby saving considerable weight while potentially boosting energy density far beyond the capacity of ordinary lithium-ion technology. ¶ “Tesla Sales Rose Last Quarter In A Possible Sign The Worst Of The Musk Backlash Is Behind It” • Tesla car sales rose over the past three months for the second straight quarter in a sign that damage from boycotts and rivals stealing market share could be behind it. ¶ “US Moves To Eliminate Long-Time Radiation Safety Principle For Nuclear Power” • The federal government is proposing to overhaul safety regulations for nuclear plants by eliminating a long-term safety principle.
