It banned the importation of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines on the grounds that the nation was squandering money it didn’t have to import fuels for those vehicles. ¶ “Andhra Pradesh Plans Tariff Relief, Expands Renewable Push” • Andhra Pradesh’s Energy Minister said the state government is working on a plan to bring down electricity costs by up to ₹1 per unit (1¢/kWh) ahead of the next general elections. ¶ “Victoria Approves The Biggest Wind Farm In The Southern Hemisphere” • Victoria’s Minister for Planning has given state environmental approval for the Warracknabeal Energy Park. ¶ “Drone Strike Ignites Fire At UAE Nuclear Plant Amid Gulf Tensions” • The Barakah nuclear plant in Abu Dhabi’s al-Dhafra region was struck by a drone for the first time since the outbreak of the Iran war, causing a fire in an electrical generator outside its inner perimeter. The $20 billion facility supplies a quarter of the UAE’s energy needs. [MSN]

¶ “Gas Prices Up 56% In USA” • US gas prices have just gone up since the country started bombing Iran. In March, CleanTechnica reported that the average price of gas in the country had gone up from $2.89/gallon to $3.48/gallon. Now, the average price of gas in the US is $4.517/gallon. That’s a 56% increase in the price of gas since the US first bombed Iran! [CleanTechnica]

¶ “NextEra Said To Near Record $66 Billion Deal For Dominion Energy” • Bloomberg News reported that NextEra Energy is in talks to acquire Dominion Energy. It could value Dominion at roughly $66 billion in a mostly stock transaction. If completed, the merger would be the largest utility acquisition on record and one of the biggest M&A deals of 2026. ¶ “Scientists May Have Unlocked A Cheaper Way To Make Clean Hydrogen Fuel” • Researchers at Washington University in St Louis are working on a possible solution for the high cost of green hydrogen.
