¶ “‘Groundbreaking’ Model Can Calculate The True Impact Of Climate Change. It’s Bad News For Europe” • A “groundbreaking” study has lifted the lid on just how much human-made climate change is impacting extreme weather across Europe. A team of climate researchers developed a new method for computing the hazards from extreme events. [Euronews]

¶ “Electric Buses Were 56% Of EU City Bus Market In 2025” • Transport & Environment published some information about how much growth there has been in the electric bus market, saying, “Six out of ten new EU city buses were zero-emission in 2025, as battery-electric and fuel cell powertrains made up 56% and 4% of new sales respectively.” [CleanTechnica]

¶ “How To Use Up Nuclear Waste Generating Electricity” • Carlo Rubbia started a special CERN working group to design a way to generate electricity using radioactive materials that had to do its work without producing anything that could be used to make nuclear bombs. It was to produce very little or no nuclear waste, and no long-term nuclear waste. [CleanTechnica]

¶ “Chinese Group Chery Accelerates Rollout of New Models In South Africa” • Chinese auto giant Chery has been ramping up its presence in South Africa over the last couple of years. ¶ “Statkraft Links 300-MW Thurrock Battery To VPP” • Statkraft and emsys VPP have integrated the 300-MW Thurrock battery storage facility into a Virtual Power Plant, enabling Statkraft to manage a gigawatt-scale portfolio of installed battery capacity in the UK. The link-up follows the successful connection of the large-scale battery in 2025. [reNews]

¶ “Heerema Undertakes Thialf Lifetime Extension” • Heerema Marine Contractors has begun one of the most extensive lifetime extension programs in the history of the heavy-lift vessel Thialf. The programme covers almost every part of the vessel, including steel and structural renewal, upgrades to electrical systems and replacement of main switchboards. [reNews]

¶ “Sizewell C Energy Cost Will Be Almost Double” • Electricity generated by the Sizewell C nuclear power station will cost about double today’s normal price, according to a Government report. Estimates suggest that the energy Sizewell C produces will cost £120/MWh in today’s prices, compared with the wholesale price of about £60 to £70. [Yahoo]

¶ “A Better Use For Warehouses: Clean, Green Rooftop Solar Power” • Warehouses have been much in the news of late, and in an epic case of perfect timing here comes the elite moving and storage firm, William C. ¶ “ALEC Pushes Idiotic Anti-Renewable Legislation In Ohio” • Many readers will be surprised to learn that some organizations do nothing but dream up new legislative initiatives that benefit their clients at the expense of others. One of them is ALEC, the American Legislative Exchange Council, which is behind a lot of MAGA nonsense. [CleanTechnica]

¶ “Toyota Is (Finally) Determined To Sell More BEVs In The US” • Toyota has been a wallflower on the walls of the US vehicle electrification movement. Toyota has awoken from its slumber with the US launch of the C-HR EV, and it just announced a new home EV charging partnership with the US firm Treehouse to help juice sales. [CleanTechnica]

¶ “Ørsted To Begin Sunrise Turbine Work” • Ørsted is set to begin turbine installation on the 924-MW Sunrise Wind soon. Cadeler’s Wind Scylla jack-up vessel is currently docked in the port of New London. Ørsted’s mariners’ briefing says that when the Wind Scylla and supporting vessels resume work, they will be stationed in the Sunrise Wind array. [reNews]

¶ “Gigantic Form Energy Battery To Power Google Data Center in Minnesota” • Form Energyis still building its first commercial project, in Minnesota, but it just revealed that it has clinched a potentially game-changing follow-up to support a Google data center in the same state. The 300-MW battery will have an energy capacity of 30 GWh. [Canary Media]

¶ “Following 35% Growth, Solar Has Passed Hydro” • The US Energy Information Administration released full-year data on how the country generated electricity in 2025. The bad news is that overall demand rose enough that coal use went up. But solar continued its run of astonishing growth, generating 35% more than a year earlier. [Ars Technica]
